Articulation Disorders
At CRTC our expert and caring therapists will work with your child to improve speech clarity.
Are you concerned that others have a hard time understanding what your child is saying? Does your child have a few sounds that he continues to struggle with despite intervention? At CRTC our expert and caring therapists will work with your child to improve speech clarity.
The first step in understanding the nature of your child’s articulation problems is having a complete in-depth assessment. This allows us to determine if the errors are developmental or if there is an underlying problem making it difficult for them to learn new speech sounds. Some articulation issues are a result of difficulty in the underlying motor system that may include breathing, voice or the inability to properly place the jaw, lips or tongue for individual sounds. At times the articulation issue may be a result of structural issues such as a cleft palate, tongue tie, or narrow palate.
Once the nature of the articulation issue is determined, our therapists will develop an individualized plan to put your child on the path toward developing the best possible articulation.
